ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Why do we use measurements?
ENGAGE:
To engage students in the practice of measuring, instruct students to determine the dimensions of one piece of paper: Height, Width, Depth. Have each student work on their own for 60 seconds. Have them work in groups of two for five minutes to brainstorm ideas for how to measure depth of the paper. Share measurements and methods used to determine the measurement. Discuss the difference in accuracy and precision.
